"This extraordinary Cab is a sensation. It combines tannic power with ripe blackcurrant and cassis fruit to create a joyous mouthfeel. A blend of grapes from Diamond Mountain, Mount Veeder and Atlas Peak, it shows the concentration of these mountain grapes, but also the balance, elegance and sophistication that En Garde always brings to their wines. The fruit is absolutely delicious, all blackcurrants, blackberry jam and licorice. The oak—100% new—is spectacular, providing the smoke, vanilla and wood tannins that a great young Cabernet needs. All of En Garde’s 2018 Cabs are wonderful, but this one exceeds even the glories of Bijou du Roi and the regular Cab. It has the extra elegance, finesse, voluptuousness and complexity to warrant its high score. I would drink this wine now, with a great steak, and would cellar it for at least a decade." - Steve Heimoff

The medium to full-bodied palate is layered with earth-laced black fruit flavors, supported by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a minerally note." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Juicy guava and strawberry notes mark the nose alongside shades of Yakima cherry, cloves and sandalwood accents. The palate is refined and elegant with a seamless texture. Offering glorious length and weight, enjoy this beauty now and over the next ten to fifteen years. Drink 2025-2038" - Owen Bargreen
93 points "The 2023 En Garde ‘Sonoma Coast’ Pinot Noir comes from this location in the Sonoma Coast, as well assome Carneros fruit blended in. The wine was given roughly 33% whole cluster fermentation and was stored in nearly all neutral oak barrels before bottling. This comes off very pretty and nuanced with salted guava and red raspberry tones alongside orange peel notes on the palate. Drink 2025-2035" - Owen Bargreen

Le Bijou du Roi (The King’s Diamond) is the crown jewel of Diamond Mountain in Napa Valley, embodying the very best the region has to offer. This exquisite Cabernet Sauvignon is the result of a meticulous barrel selection process, highlighting the rich, silky character and unparalleled sophistication of the vintage. With only five barrels produced, Le Bijou du Roi is a rare and refined expression of Napa’s mountain terroir, crafted for those who appreciate the finest in wine.

"The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Le Bijou du Roi is deep garnet-purple in color. Plum pudding, fruit cake, and warm cassis scents jump from the glass, giving way to hints of Chinese five spice, incense, dusty soil, and fallen leaves. The concentrated, full-bodied palate is chock full of fragrant baked berries flavors with a plush texture and lively backbone to balance, finishing long and layered." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Bordeaux Right Bank Style Blend
I have a deep passion for crafting Bordeaux blends. The beauty of these wines lies in how the individual components come together to create something greater than the sum of their parts, revealing hidden complexities that can only emerge through their harmonious marriage. It's not an easy task to be a matchmaker, which is why my wife, Sandy, and I do it together, ensuring a perfect balance of both male and female perspectives in the process.
Grand Vin is a right-bank inspired Bordeaux blend that beautifully captures the silky complexity of Diamond Mountain’s unique terroir. At its heart, the Cabernet Sauvignon elevates the Merlot to new heights, while the addition of Cabernet Franc infuses the wine with delicate floral aromatics. The Petit Verdot provides the structural backbone, offering depth and resilience to this harmonious blend. With only four barrels crafted, Grand Vin is a rare, elegant expression of Napa’s finest.

"Easily as concentrated and intense as En Garde’s other ‘21s, but different. You don’t get that blackberry and cassis, because this wine is 85% Merlot, with only 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, making it softer and gentler. It veers towards velvety red fruits and milk chocolate, with an earthy, mushroomy complexity, reminiscent of ground coffee, that must come from the high altitude volcanic soil and from the oak. There’s a Right Bank flamboyance that suggests drinking now, although it will surely be great in ten years. The tannins are so intricate, so finely ground, providing just the right structure to frame all the richness. And the finish is very long. All in all, a very great achievement for En Garde and in my opinion, their best of the ‘21s." - Steve Heimoff
When Tony, my trusted grower on Diamond Mountain, presented the opportunity to source fruit from his Oak Knoll vineyard on the Napa Valley floor, I was immediately intrigued. Tony’s expertise in viticulture is unparalleled, and Oak Knoll is renowned for producing silky, smooth Cabernet Sauvignon—perfect for sipping and savoring. Taking a chance on my first-ever valley floor fruit was a bold move, but one I have no regrets about. This one-off project exceeded all expectations, resulting in a beautifully expressive and delightful interpretation of the classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.
"As soon as I opened the bottle the aromas of black currants and cassis erupted, announcing a young, ripe and fancy Cabernet Sauvignon. This was confirmed in the mouth. Superbly flavored, with additional complexities of anisette and chocolate, freshly crushed white pepper, and the sweet, toasty notes of new oak. The tannins are thick, but they’re so softly sweet that the wine is delicious even at this young age. A wonderful, world-class Napa Valley red wine, offering endless waves of flavor through a long finish, and the alcohol offers bracing warmth. Ready to drink now and should develop for many years." - Steve Heimoff
Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley has always captivated me, with its signature spicy and bright finish, juicy mid palate, and silky texture. In this particular vineyard, we’re fortunate to work with three distinct clones of Pinot Noir—115, 777, and Pommard—which not only enhance the wine’s complexity but also present a range of challenges that keep me, as the winemaker, constantly engaged and excited. It’s this dynamic interplay between the clones and the vineyard's unique terroir that makes crafting Pinot Noir such a joyful and exhilarating experience.

"Deep, ripe and opulent, the nose of this wine gives aromas of cherry liqueur and cola, while the palate displays candied raspberry, tea leaf and sage flavors on the balanced but richly textured palate. While certainly charming now, this will unfold for the next decade." - Tom Capo
Roma’s Vineyard is named in honor of the mother of my grower, Dean, located at the top of Anderson Valley. Dean’s remarkable past includes several decades as one of Alaska’s finest bush pilots, navigating the rugged terrain with precision and skill. However, when his wife, Suzi, grew weary of his dangerous career, they decided it was time for a change. They retired and set out to plant a first-growth Pinot Noir vineyard that would reflect the elegance and structure of Burgundy. Dean chose this site on the ridgeline, nearly 2,000 feet above sea level, because it reminded him of the soaring heights he once flew. They selected the Pommard clone for its depth, structure, and finesse—and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, Roma’s Vineyard stands as one of Anderson Valley’s most esteemed and sought-after sources for premium Pinot Noir.

"Much is made of Pinot Noir’s flavors and mouthfeel, deservedly so. But sometimes its aromatics are missed by the critics. It takes a wine like this to make you appreciate that olfactory beauty. This wine opens with a Beethovian blast of raspberries, cherries and French oak, with spicy notes reminiscent of black tea, cola, anise and cloves. These pure, clean complexities reprise in the mouth, where the savoriness is balanced by excellent acidity and firm but silky tannins. The long finish promises ageability. A really beautiful Pinot Noir of complexity and harmony, lovely to drink now, and should develop bottle complexity over the next eight years." - Steve Heimoff
When my grower, Marcello Hernandez, first offered me fruit, I’ll admit, I was skeptical. It was later in the harvest season, and to be honest, the fruit was already a bit overripe for my usual taste. However, I took a chance, drawn to the unique site and eager to return the following year to see what it could offer. I’m glad I did—sometimes, instincts do pay off! The vineyard has since become a staple in our Pinot lineup, adding a distinctive layer of Los Carneros' earthy elegance, with that signature earthy notes that makes it so special.

"Very fresh with lovely tension, the 2021 En Garde ‘Hernandez Vineyard’ Pinot Noir offers red plum and juicy strawberry flavors alongside teaberry and damp earth notes. Fresh and smooth on the tongue, enjoy now and over the next decade. Drink 2024-2034" - Owen Bargreen
The enticing fragrances of freshly spiced apple, pear, and melon invite you to experience this beautiful and timeless Chardonnay from the southern edge of Napa Valley. A luxurious mouthfeel of vibrant Asian pear flavors is delicately complemented by hints of vanilla and honey. The balanced acidity and invigorating minerality, influenced by the cool climate and bay breezes of Carneros, add a delightful crispness to this wine. The lingering, savory finish is sure to leave a lasting impression that you will cherish.
Aged for 18 months in Hungarian oak barrels, 40% new, this classic example of Petite Sirah (with a healthy 15% addition of Zinfandel) opens beautifully with deep, dark aromas of blackberry, black cherry, plum and notes of elegant wild licorice. Matching fruit continues on the palate with polished, juicy tannins. There's wonderful depth of blueberry laced with bark and black mushrooms. Subtle notes of graphite minerality lay just underneath and a wisp of dustiness gives way to a lingering finish softened by vanilla cola.
Graceful and refined, our new Sparkling Cabernet Sauvignon is a modern twist on a timeless classic. Delicate bubbles lift bright notes of fresh raspberry, subtle floral undertones, and a whisper of soft spice, creating a wine that’s as refreshing as it is sophisticated. Light in body yet full of character, it’s perfect for brunch, intimate gatherings, or simply adding a touch of sparkle to any moment.
Named after my mom and grandmother: Magdalena.
Raspberry, Blackberry, Pommegranate and Sour Cherry wine made in the centuries old ruby port tradition.
Growing up in Hungary, sour cherries were a staple in our household. They were used in both cooking and baking, celebrated for their perfect balance of sweet and sour. My grandfather had an entire orchard of them, and every year, my cousins, uncles, aunts, and I would gather the fruit together. There was so much of it that, in some years, my grandfather would craft a beautifully fruity wine from the harvest. That wine became my inspiration for creating this delightful blend of raspberries, blackberries, pomegranate, and, of course, sour cherries. To honor my heritage, I named it Magdalena, after my grandmother and mother.
