100 points "Exceptionally ripe blackcurrants and cocoa, with a firm, mineral spine that must come from its rocky vineyard sources, in Diamond Mountain and Atlas Peak. You’ll find amazingly soft, complex, cushiony tannins that are pure velvet in the mouth. You’ll find sweet, smoky, caramelized oak concentrated in the Touche due to the use of 100% new wood barrels for nearly two years of aging. Yet there is an immediate beauty. English has no words to describe the incomparable gorgeousness here. I’d need a Thesaurus to even begin. I can almost smell the sizzling Porterhouse or sirloin that will love this wine and lift it even further. As close to perfection as I can imagine a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon getting. The wine saw 50% whole cluster fermentation. This is fresh and beautifully textured stuff with a smooth mouthfeel and beautiful purity of red fruits. 93 points "The 2023 En Garde ‘Sonoma Coast’ Pinot Noir comes from this location in the Sonoma Coast, as well as some Carneros fruit blended in. The wine was given roughly 33% whole cluster fermentation and was stored in nearly all neutral oak barrels before bottling. Growing up in Hungary, sour cherries were a staple in our household. They were used in both cooking and baking, celebrated for their perfect balance of sweet and sour. My grandfather had an entire orchard of them, and every year, my cousins, uncles, aunts, and I would gather the fruit together. There was so much of it that, in some years, my grandfather would craft a beautifully fruity wine from the harvest. That wine became my inspiration for creating this delightful blend of raspberries, blackberries, pomegranate, and, of course, sour cherries. To honor my heritage, I named it Magdalena, after my grandmother and mother.
